David Brock Smear merchant get's it wrong on Tony Snow
Not much of a shocker on the headline since it could apply to just about everybody Brock attacks, but it is particularly offensive when it is done to Tony Snow considering the number of high profile liberals including former Clinton spinster Lanny Davis, who had nothing but high praise for Tony's appointment.
Below is a "posting" from Brock on his group's site about the appointment of Tony Snow:
President and CEO David Brock on New White House press secretary Tony Snow
April 26, 2006 (Washington, DC) -- David Brock, President and CEO of Media Matters for America, released the following statement in response to the formal announcement that outgoing White House press secretary Scott McClellan will be replaced by syndicated columnist and Fox News host Tony Snow:
"Tony Snow and the Bush White House seem like a match made in heaven: Snow and his colleagues at Fox News have been among the most effective spokespeople for the Bush administration. But given Snow's long history of making false and misleading claims, his hiring will do little to change the perception that the White House is more interested in stonewalling and deception than in getting the facts out.
According to numerous news reports, the liberal Center for American Progress think tank - a group that has supported Brock's organization financially - has circulated numerous past comments of Snow criticizing Bush administration policy. So where does Brock get his information that Snow is guilty of spinning for the administration while at Fox News?
Here are just a few examples of Tony's criticizing this administration:
Snow called the president "something of an embarrassment," a leader who has "lost control of the federal budget," the architect of a "listless domestic policy" and a man who has "a habit of singing from the political correctness hymnal."
The answer is simple. Brock is just a small time, run of the mill smear merchant.
